A Working Writer's Daily Planner 2010: Your Year in Writing

This writer’s daily calendar is a good-looking package and doesn’t take up much room on my already too crowded desk. It also has a handy layout with full work weeks presented on the spiral-bound pages. BUT…

If this is supposed to be for writers, it should not have been constructed with shiny, high-gloss pages, which, although handsome, are frightful to write on. And it’s made for writers?

I do most of my jotting and note-taking in pencil, using a premium Palomino `HB’ which writes beautifully–but not on resin-coated paper. And ballpoint is no better. For these pages, you should properly use an RC pen, such as a Sharpie, and I find that to be inconvenient.

Giving this calendar one star would have been over-kill, since it does contain everything else I’m looking for: it’s compact, thoroughly stocked with information, conveniently laid out, and even portable, having not much more girth than a standard briefcase-type secretary.

But if a writer can’t write quickly and conveniently when needed, whether making a notation or penciling in an appointment…well, you get the idea.

I will not buy one for 2011 if, like the 2010 model, it’s printed on (as noted on the inside cover) 100# Boydon Gloss.
